Yeah! The Audi A1 enters Malaysia at RM180k!

Salams and good evening everyone :D

Why there is such a posting like this? its because i love the design and the design package of the Audi A1 and im glad it is been offered in Malaysia. For further details you can read it at Paul Tan's Automotive Blog . Below is the A1 model that is being introduced by EuroMobil.

So let me tell you guys abit about this car and what do i really love about it beside the technical engineering spec (engines, transmission and performance) which is among the best in its category and i consider this car a rocket pocket of fun to drive :D.

Firstly the car starts out as a concept car at Tokyo Motor Show in 2007 as the Audi metroproject quattro concept car supermini segment. The concept was on hybrid tech which plays with the Turbo FSI engine and an electrical motor. At the 2008 Leipzig Auto Mobil International show, Audi again presented the metroproject quattro, renamed the A1 project quattro. The vehicle was designed by Audi AG Project Designer in Exterior Design Dany Garand, who also presented the design during the car's Hong Kong debut.

So this is the concept car back in 2007. I just love the headlight design, the stunning iconic grill, the good proposition of lines and space, not forgetting the solid strong pillar design which is highlited in silver grey metal. (which got so many influence on my designs and rendering)

Later on, Audi still plays and tries to learn how the market/public reacted to their A1 concept which spurs the A1 Sportback concept in Paris Motor Show October 2008. The A1 Sportback concept is a restyled 5-door development of the metroproject quattro. Like the earlier concept, the A1 Sportback has a hybrid powertrain, with the same 1.4 L petrol engine and S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission, plus a 20 kW (27 bhp), 150 N•m electric motor. However the electric motor drives the front wheels, rather than the rear.

A1 Sportback concept which Audi tweak and refine those already superb design lines and focused more on the headlight design and its luxury lifestyle influence. The Rear Light design for this one is among the best in Audi Concepts Cars for me :). (look below)

So The Audi A1 (internally designated Typ 8X) is a supermini-class car launched by Audi at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Sales of the initial three door A1 model started in Germany in August 2010, with the United Kingdom following in November 2010.The car is aimed mostly at young, affluent urban buyers.

In that launch comes the The Audi A1 e-tron concept car is an electric variant of the A1, first shown at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. The A1 e-tron is a series plug-in hybrid (PHEV), powered by an electric motor with a continuous output of 45 kW (61 PS; 60 bhp), and a peak output of 75 kW (102 PS; 101 bhp). A fully-charged 12 kWh lithium-ion battery gives a maximum range of 50 kilometres (31 mi), after which a 254 cc Wankel engine is used to power a 15 kW (20 PS; 20 bhp) generator with a 12 l (3.2 USgal) fuel tank. This is estimated to provide an additional range of 124 mi (200 km).A field testing programme of twenty A1 e-tron vehicles began in Munich in late 2010

The Audi E-Tron, an Electric Powered Variant. On the design they didnt change a thing except for the concept color and much cool lighted wheels, but inside that car there is a whole EV tech that would make the millennium falcon an ancient relic :P

Lastly after the A1 production model is marketed for a year, a much more sportier variant spurs from the concept of the Audi Quattro Project influence and tech. Thus In May 2011, the A1 clubsport quattro concept car was shown at the Wörthersee event. This car has a modified version of the Audi RS 3's 5-cylinder 2.5 L engine tuned to 503 PS (370 kW) and 660 N·m (487 lb·ft). Capable of 0–100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration in 3.7 seconds, the car also features a restyled exterior including "blister"-style extended wheelarches reminiscent of the Audi Quattro and minimal, lightweight interior trim.

Now feast your eyes on THE A1 Clubsport Quattro Concept!

Summary: i just love this car :D
